Overview
CVS Spoken RX is a mobile application designed to provide accessible prescription information through spoken feedback. The app empowers users with visual disabilities to manage their medications independently, improving both safety and convenience in daily healthcare routines.
Role & Responsibilities
As the Sr. Accessibility Designer, I led the accessibility evaluation and enhancement of the app. My focus was on ensuring seamless interaction with iOS VoiceOver, optimizing usability, and creating an inclusive experience for visually disabilities users. I worked closely with UX designers and developers to integrate accessibility best practices throughout the project.
Process & Approach
The project began with a thorough accessibility audit, combining heuristic evaluation with VoiceOver-specific testing to identify navigation and content barriers. I collaborated with the team to redesign interactive elements, including buttons, labels, and gestures, ensuring they were fully accessible. Using Bohemian Sketch, I developed prototypes to test new flows and validate design improvements. Iterative testing on real devices with VoiceOver ensured that all enhancements functioned effectively in real-world scenarios.
Impact & Results
The accessibility improvements led to a more consistent and intuitive VoiceOver navigation experience. Spoken feedback for prescription details became clearer, reducing cognitive load and improving comprehension. Ultimately, these changes enabled users to independently access and manage their prescriptions, aligning CVS Spoken RX with inclusive design standards and enhancing the overall user experience for people with visual disabilities.
